  • Ultrasounds
    Ultrasound examination, or sonogram, is a painless diagnostic technique performed by staff members at University Urology Associates. Ultrasound studies the behavior of sound waves in the human body. When these sound waves are transmitted into the body, they are reflected in specific ways by tissues and organs, and produce images of internal organs.

  • Urodynamic Analyses
    University Urology Associates will conduct urodynamic analyses for the evaluation of bladder problems. Specifically, urodynamic analyses measure how well the bladder and sphincter muscles work.

  • Cystoscopy
    Cystoscopy is an in-office procedure conducted at University Urology Associates that enables urologists to view the inside of the bladder and urethra in greater detail. It is commonly used to measure pressures in the lower urinary tract, diagnose bladder tumors, and identify obstruction of the bladder.

  • Uroflow
    Uroflometry, or uroflow, is an in-office test conducted at University Urology Associates to measure the volume of urine voided, the speed of the urination, and its duration.

  • Bladder Scans
    Bladder scans are in-office tests performed at University Urology Associates that examine the urine, vagina, or rectum and are used in the detection and diagnosis of bladder cancer. Tests include biopsy, cystoscopy, and urinanalysis.

  • Rigiscan
    Rigiscan is a device used to measure nocturnal penile tuemscence (NPT) for patients with ED. Urologists at University Urology Associates will recommend this test to record if a patient is experiencing nighttime erections and to monitor rigidity.

  • Prostate Biopsies
    Prostate biopsies are performed to rule out the presence of prostate cancer in patients with abnormal PSA levels or digital rectal exams(DRE). During the biopsy, a tissue sample is removed and then examined under a microscope. Prostate biopsies are performed with ultrasound guidance and under local prostatic anesthetic block by urologists at University Urology Associates.

  • Minimally Invasive Prostate Surgeries Including State-of-the-art Outpatient Laser Surgery*
    Urologists at University Urology Associates perform the following minimally invasive prostate surgeries at their location:

    • Microwave is a procedure where computer-regulated microwaves are sent through a catheter to heat portions of the prostate. Microwave alleviates symptoms by heating the prostate tissue and the nerves within the prostate causing a relaxation of the prostate.

  • No Scalpel Vasectomy
    No scalpel vasectomy is a surgical procedure for permanent male fertility control. The tube called the “vas”, which leads from the testical is cut and sealed to prevent sperm from leaving. Since the procedure simply interrupts the delivery of sperm, it does not change hormone function, and leaves sexual drive and potency unaffected. The “No-scalpel” technique represents a significant improvement over conventional vasectomy techniques as it is less traumatic and shortens recovery time. This in-office procedure is performed with the aid of local anesthetic and takes approximately 15 to 20 minutes.
